Student test scores give us key performance data. So do other indicators, such as what the students tell us about their dreams, the work ethic shown in student performance, and a student’s confidence to ask a good question in English conversation with a visitor from a sponsoring company.

Andrea, Grade 5, wrote the following poem in her English class:

Who Am I?

I'm a superstar
That shines in the sky
A superhero
Who helps someone.

I am a cake that
sweetens my family
And a cup of coffee
That warms anyone.

I am a kite that
reaches the top
I'm like a train
that doesn't stop.

I'm a girl
who's as brave as a lion
A tree that stands on its own
With my family as roots to make me strong.
